With our new baby on the way nesting is really starting to kick in! There are so many things around the house that I want to organize, remodel, or get just right for our growing family! I am very grateful for everything we have been blessed with and without God in our lives known of our dreams would have been possible and it never hurts to reach for the stars! Let's dream a little bit more like The Newlywed Diaries did on their blog here.

Oh, the life!

I'm back!!... Our Home...

I have been very busy and heavily slacking on my blogging!! It seems like I blog in spurts! I am going to try harder to blog more regularly! I promise! Side note: I have no clue to moms who have a full time job in/out of the house blog, take care of themselves and their families! I may need to improve my time management skills!

On a different note! We are almost done furnishing our home, except for my dining room chairs that have yet to come in, the coffee table  have yet to order and the MANY accessories I feel like we need for our home! When does the task of decorating your home ever end?? I have blogged a few photos (not very good quality! I need to add a new camera to my "List of Things to Purchase for our Home") of our home here. I have of course changed a few things around since I posted those photos.

I am anxiously waiting the day that our home looks "Finished" like the rooms in the photos below!

This could perhaps be our Master Bedroom. (I really thought I posted a photo of our Master Bedroom when I posted photos of our home earlier on my blog, but I guess not.) (Note to self: Take new photos of our home to post on my blog that I am going to regularly update.) I love the neutral background for this room, with punches of color in the sofa and rug. We need more color in our bedroom!! Imagine dark wood floors (I have not purchased any rugs yet for our room), all dark wood furniture (except for our bed which is from Pier1 circa 2003), and this bedding...

Our bedroom is probably the most boringly neutral room in our house and definitely needs some color! That was a long rant about our bedroom... I know, but something needs to be done about it!

This could be our office... which right now only houses a desk and an armoire. (That I am trying to sell on Craigslist, that only scammers are attracted to!)

We will leave it at the bedrooms today... Our front living room is almost 'complete' and our dining room is waiting on it's chairs to be delivered to become finished...

Oh... It's been a while!! I've been super busy! I'll fill you in on why I have been so busy lately later...

I just wanted to blog this awesome Southampton beach house from House Beautiful before I forgot about it! Check this out!

I am in love with this room! Having a design background, I'm in love with classic blue prints! The hand painted walls exude incredibleness!

I've never really been one for paneling, but the cedar-plank walls are classic, timeless & just pain gorgeous! This is such a casual chic pool house.

This outdoor area needs no caption at all. BEAUTIFUL!

I have always loved the idea of having color themed rooms in a house... maybe one day we will own a home large enough to say to our guests, "We have you set up in the Blue Room..."

'Mad' Apartment in NY

This apartment by Miles Redd is AMAZING.His wonderfully crazy ideas make this apartment super stylish. If you like the shape of a piece, but not the style or color, you can always adapt it to make it what you want. Also, adding a little color to a traditional piece makes them more modern. You can get more information on this apartment at House Beautiful.

Redd really knows what makes a room or space special. He says in House Beautiful, "When someone understands how to live and how to arrange a room, and everywhere you look there is something beautiful, [that's what makes a room luxurious.] When it has a sense of drama — a cinematic quality — and you want to spend time in it."

New Orleans Cottage

I get inspiration every day from various places, websites, shelter magazine, other blogs, and day-to-day life. I collect inspirations that I love and if they are online I email them to myself. Well... I have discovered that I love almost every room in the Cottage Living Idea House in New Orleans. After viewing this New Orleans cottage, I was looking through my design inspirations archive and found almost room in this home.

This cottage's shotgun style is the most popular building style in New Orleans. You can find homes like this in almost every neighborhood or area. I can definitely see soon space issues popping up when thinking about designing a home with this type of layout.

Classic, timeless and elegant... everything I love combined into the parlor. I love the neutral color palette! Change a view accessories around and it looks like you have a brand new room.

Tall ceilings and bookcases make the parlor a winner. Hanging a portrait on the bookcase gives the space added interest.

Find things you love. It does not matter what style they are. Modern and classic elements in the same room add interest to a space.

Quirky details like the wall-mounted faucet and a modern sink make this powder room unique.

The first thing in this room that caught my eyes were the gas lantern ceiling fixtures. Gas lanterns as symbolic to the New Orleans as shot gun houses are.

Formal an informal all in one kitchen. The antique bench dresses down and adds character to this otherwise formal space.

  

This one-of-a-kind pantry is a surprise element in the kitchen. Talk about adding character to a space!

This office appears to be the hub of day to day life. I wouldn't mind handling the bills and other paper work if this was my office.

The master bedroom looks so cozy designers Ann and Jane Dupuy used marine rope and grommets to attach a tailored canopy to the four-poster iron bed.

The fire place in the master bedroom is a decorative salvaged piece, but still puts off warmth. It makes me want to curl up in one of the over-stuffed arm chairs and read a good book! 

The master closet has to be hands down my favorite room in the entire cottage. I would never leave this boudoir because of the patterned wallpaper and crystal chandelier.

The guest room / study looks like it belongs in a completely different home, yet with all of the attention to detail it completely belongs in this home.

With a back porch like this, who needs to go inside? You would have a hard time convincing me to get up and walk inside to see the rest of this gorgeous cottage.

Design Inspirations

I absolutely love our new home! However, our kitchen is a bit ho-hum. All of our guests seem to gather in the kitchen, so why not make it one of the most fantastic rooms in the house! I would love to remodel our kitchen and here are some design inspirations that I found at Coastal Living.

I love the dark wood floors in this kitchen! I also really like the contrasting cabinets, using black for the lower cabinets and white for the uppers. Who says brown and black do not match... I'm also a sucks for bamboo roman shades. They always add texture, warmth and casually dress up windows. This kitchen has to be my absolute favorite!
