NCIDQ & Design Renderings

Hello Bloggers!

So... I am taking the NCIDQ in about 2 days! I'm a little nervous and a lot ready to get it over with. I don't remember ever being this nervous about a test in college. I am hoping and praying that I do well on it! I want this test to be a one time deal. For a little insight... the test is three sections. The past rate on the first section is 70%, 80% for the second section, and a whopping 59% for the third section! Yikes! Keep me and everyone else taking / re-taking the test in your prayers so we will all pass!

On a second note... check out these wonderful renderings by Candice Olson. I love her rendering style!

You can tell her renderings and sketches are hand drawn (which number one takes a lot of skill) and her use of markers is just fantastic!

This sketch In Patina Style that I just discovered on Laura Casey Interiors blog is a close rival to Candice Olson's sketches...

I know it is not necessarily rendered, but this sketch is just gorgeous!

House Beautiful, Southampton Beach House

Oh... It's been a while!! I've been super busy! I'll fill you in on why I have been so busy lately later...
I just wanted to blog this awesome Southampton beach house from House Beautiful before I forgot about it! Check this out!

How would you like for this to be your view??

I am in love with this room! Having a design background, I'm in love with classic blue prints! The hand painted walls exude incredibleness!

I've never really been one for paneling, but the cedar-plank walls are classic, timeless & just pain gorgeous! This is such a casual chic pool house.

This outdoor area needs no caption at all. BEAUTIFUL!

I have always loved the idea of having color themed rooms in a house... maybe one day we will own a home large enough to say to our guests, "We have you set up in the Blue Room..."

You can check out the rest of the photos of this beautiful escape here.

'Mad' Apartment in NY

This apartment by Miles Redd is AMAZING.His wonderfully crazy ideas make this apartment super stylish. If you like the shape of a piece, but not the style or color, you can always adapt it to make it what you want. Also, adding a little color to a traditional piece makes them more modern. You can get more information on this apartment at House Beautiful.

Redd really knows what makes a room or space special. He says in House Beautiful, "When someone understands how to live and how to arrange a room, and everywhere you look there is something beautiful, [that's what makes a room luxurious.] When it has a sense of drama — a cinematic quality — and you want to spend time in it."

Let's talk color...

I am historically more of a neutral palette kind of girls, however, this photo screams incredible! This photo evokes so many feelings! It is vibrant, exciting, daring, sensuous, unique and adventurous. Who would have imaged that pairing indigo and pink shiny cotton together with stacked hand carved Louis XV and XVI fauteils and bergères would garner such attention?
